Inspiration 

The inspiration into why I have decided to become a Video Games Designer of either  3D or 2.5D games or both, is because I started playing video games at a young age and grew up mainly playing Action and Adventure Platformer games. The very first game I played on was Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Mega Drive. I grew up playing games of the 16 bit cartridge era. Most of the games I grew up playing where of the Platformer genre such as the Sonic the Hedgehog game series, Spyro the Dragon series, Crash Bandicoot series, Croc series, Gex series, Ape Escape, Ratchet and Clank game series and Fur Fighters.

I first started at Doncaster College the Hub on a Level 3 Games Developmet course for two years is where I learn how to use the 3D software Autodesk Maya and the game engine Unity and throughout the two years on this course I was tasked with a project to produce a game based around Discworld in a small team working on a game level within the game each. When I finsihed the two years on the course I then decided to go onto a top up Specialist Diploma Level 3 course for a year to boost up the skills which I learnt from the Games Development course and at the end of the course I devloped a 3D fantasy game environment for the final major project. I am currently studying on a HND Games Design and Animation University course at High Melton which is where I am going to gain even more knowledge of using the 3D software and boost up my skills of using the software even further and to also learn new skills. I am also going to boost up my presenting skills to prepare me for when I finsih on this course at High Melton and go into the line of apprenticeship work or work. 

 

 

 

 

 

Worms Forts Under Seige 

The popular game series Worms has been an inspiration for me because of the unique art style. The game which I mostly like from the game series is Worms Forts Under Seige because I like how the base construction works in the game and also for the unique art style of the game. 

Oddworld New 'n' Tasty

Oddworld has been another game series which has inspired me. Oddworld New n Tasty is a complete the remake of the first game in the series Oddworld Abe's Oddysee. I like the game of the visuals and effects used for the game as well as the type of lighting and contrast used for the game. I also like the game because it has been designed to be challenging for the player. 

Hogs of War

Hogs of War has inspired me becuase of the type of gameplay and artt style used for the game. I like how the weapon select menu has been designed and each of the weapons in the game are unique and are class specified such as the medic having heal as one of the weapons in the selection. 

Ratchet Gladiator

Ratchet Gladiator has been another inspiration for me because of the unique game challenges that are included in the storyline of the game and also I like the art style and visuals for the game. The Ratchet and Clank game series has been a main inspiration for me in general because of the unqiue planet locations, art style and also the weapons in the game series are all unique. 

Sly Cooper Series

The Sly Cooper video game series has been inspiring for me. The Sly games have a unique art style which is caroony and celshaded which I think works really well for these games. I like how the stealth mechanics are used for the game to allow the player to sneak around the environments navigation such as going across ledges and the player is also able to sneak behind enemies to stealth items from the coin pouch and also to take them out from behind. The gameplay is done in a comic celshaded style and so are the cutscenes of the game. 

 

Bomberman Party Edition 

The Bomberman game series has been an inspiration for me since I played the games on the PlayStation One consoles. The Bomberman game which I like the most is Bomberman Party Edition because of the unique feature of having animals in the gameplay to assist the player. Bomberman Party Edition also has extra content included in the game which the original game released does not have included in the game. I also like the visuals and sound effects used for the game as well as the art style.

 

 

 

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon

The Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game series has been an inspiration for me because of how challenging the games are and the type of storylines used for the games work well and fit in with the gameplay. The Mystery Dungeon game series differs completly from the normal Pokemon games and have a unique style to them. 

Wallace and Gromit in Project Zoo 

Wallace and Gromit in Project Zoo has been inspiring for me because I like the type of art style used for the game, the sounds and visuals used for the game and the type of gameplay. I also like that the game is set within the Wallace and Gromit universe. 

Pokemon Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire

The Nintendo 3DS remakes of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire have been an inspiring for me. The reason why I have taken inspiration for these two Pokemon games is because of the graphic style and art style and also the visual effects. 

Lego Jurassic World 

Lego Jurassic World has inspired me because of the art style and graphics used for the game. The levels included in the game feature the main story plots from all of four films and has the voice actors from the films for the characters of the game. 

Gregory Horror Show 

Gregory Horror Show is another game which has inspired me because of the unique gameplay style of the game and the unique storyline. I like the visuals and graphics of the game and also the sounds and art style. 

Strider 2 

Strider 2 has been another inspiration for me because of the art style and visuals used for the game. I also like the linear gameplay that is used and I like the locations used for the level stages. The game is also challenging which is another thing that I like.

Recent Project 

The last project I worked on was the Space Randy's Pizza Delivery group project which I was apart of a small group of six people with Lewis, Jachym, Dom, Dan and Connor. To contribute to the group I designed a space tunnel highway that connects the hub restaurant to the planets to take the player into the cities to deliver the pizzas in the given time limit. 

 

 

 

Current project
The project I am currently developing is a 3D Platformer Winter Land level that I am designing for the final major project of the degree course. The Platformer is being developed in the Roblox Studio engine.

Space Randy's Pizza Delivery Group Project 

 

For this assignment project I was tasked to work in a small group team to design a project. The team was myself, Dom, Dan, Connor, Jachym and Lewis. The project idea was to design a working prototype of a pizza delivery game. My contribution to this project was to design a space tunnel highway which connects the cities on the planets to the hub.

Winter Land Level

 

For the final assignment on the degree course I was tasked with designing an final major project of my own choice. I designed a Winter Land themed 3D Platformer level in the Roblox Studio Engine. In the time given for the project I needed to have a prototype with working game mechanics although some of the game mechanics did not script correctly.
